Use Search

Need to find something specific? Here's how to use QuickDoc's search feature:

  1. Click Search at the top of your left sidebar, or use cmd/ctrl + P or cmd/ctrl + K.

  2. Type your search term in the search bar at the top. Recently viewed pages will appear below for quick access.

  3. Navigate using your arrow keys.

Look for labels like Most viewed or Popular this week to quickly spot relevant results. Hover over results to preview them.

Tip: Hold cmd/ctrl and click a result to open it in a new tab (web app) or a new window (desktop app).

Command Search

Download QuickDoc for desktop to use Command Search.

With Command Search, you can search and ask questions even outside the QuickDoc app. Activate it with a customizable keyboard shortcut, from your menu bar on Mac, or your taskbar on Windows.

  • Command Search is enabled by default. To disable, go to Settings & membersMy settings → toggle off Enable Command Search. You can also disable Show QuickDoc in Menu Bar or customize the shortcut.

  • QuickDoc will open at login by default. To turn this off:

    • On Mac: Right-click the QuickDoc icon in the dock → OptionsOpen at Login to uncheck it.

    • On Windows: Right-click the QuickDoc icon in the taskbar → Launch PreferencesOpen QuickDoc at Login to uncheck it.

Tip: In Command Search, hover over a result and use cmd + L or cmd + shift + C to quickly copy its link.

Q&A Feature

Join the Q&A beta to see an Ask AI in [Workspace] button at the top of your search window. Get instant answers using the information from the pages you have access to.

Refine Your Search Results

Sort and filter your search results for quick access:

Sort by:

  • Best Matches: Most relevant results, with recent edits and page titles prioritized.

  • Last Edited: Newest First: Recently edited content first.

  • Last Edited: Oldest First: Oldest edits first.

  • Created: Newest First: Recently created content first.

  • Created: Oldest First: Oldest created content first.

Filter by:

  • Title only: Matches search term with page titles only.

  • Created by: Shows content created by specific people.

  • Teamspace: Filters results by teamspaces you have access to (available in Plus, Business, or Enterprise Plans).

  • In page: Shows content within selected pages, including subpages.

  • Date: Filters content by creation or edit date. Choose from Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, or set custom dates.

Recent Pages

When you open the search window, you'll see a list of pages you've recently visited.

Database Search

Use the database search bar to find entries with your search term in titles or property values (not page contents). For example, searching for "Urgent" filters the database to show entries with "Urgent" in titles or properties.

Database Search vs. Workspace Search

  • Database Search: Searches property values like Status = In Progress or entry names.

  • Workspace Search: Searches content within database pages.
